Ghalib

At Ghalib ki Haveli

Ghalib and his poetry has been an abiding interest of Dr Singh from the time he visited the 'Ghalib ki Haveli' while on a lecture tour to New Delhi. He believes Ghalib is the most appreciated but the least understood of Urdu poets. To remedy this, On 16th Feb 2018, to coincide with Ghalib's death anniversary, Dr Singh started a YouTube Channel, 'Ghalib, Ghalib and only Ghalib'.

Ghalib Ghazals Worldwide Concert Series

Ghalib Decoded and Sung

From Sept 2018, he has started a Ghalib Ghazals Worldwide Concert Series called; Ghalib-Decoded and Sung. Here the more popular of Ghalib's Ghazals and Shers would be sung with an explanation of the more difficult ones so that Ghalib becomes consumable for a wider, cosmopolitan audience.

Not-for-profit Initiative

Ghalib Decoded and Sung on BookMyShow

All profits from this Ghalib Concert Worldwide Series will go solely towards the Ghalib Project, in which all ghazals from his Deewan-e-Ghalib would be rendered in their entirety, in different ragas, and no raga would be repeated.

The Ghalib Project

In a trance rendering Ghalib

Dr Singh has already set all the 235 ghazals from the Deewan-e-Ghalib to preliminary tunes and is now engaged in fine tuning them.

Mirza Ghalib is arguably the best poet in Urdu & one of the finest in world literature. Deewan-e-Ghalib, is his seminal contribution not just to Urdu but to world literature & poetry. It has 235 ghazals, most of them complex and intricate. This Project will progressively feature all ghazals from the 'Deewan' in three forms.
i. 'Deewan' Sung: This will feature every ghazal from the 'Deewan'. The whole ghazal will be sung in different Ragas. No Raga will be repeated.
ii. 'Deewan' Recited: All complete ghazals will be recited.
iii.'Deewan Analysed: All 'shers' will be progressively analysed, mainly in English/Hinglish.
